Welcome!
Today we welcome three incredible additions to Stand's Applied Science Team.

Meet Sergei, a researcher and engineer specializing in high-performance computing (HPC) and multi-physics modeling.
His career spans Los Alamos National Lab, Stanford, and Bosch, where he worked on projects involving turbulence, combustion, cavitation, electrochemistry, and machine learning. He has also developed advanced numerical methods, coupled simulation frameworks, and led initiatives across disciplines, connecting physical analysis with real-world applications. At Stand, he is focused on developing cutting-edge computational approaches that address the urgent challenges of climate change by mitigating wildfire risks with science-driven solutions.

Meet Tim, a former researcher in multi-disciplinary design and the lead designer of widely-used open-source CFD tools.
His experience in building complex software stacks for engineering applications led him to become a Founding Engineer at Luminary Cloud, where he developed a high-performance cloud platform for physical simulations, focusing on computational efficiency and scalability. At Stand, Tim is excited to apply his expertise in simulation and data-driven modeling to build robust analysis pipelines that protect and insure properties in high-risk wildfire areas, making a meaningful impact on at-risk communities.

Meet Katya, a Michigan native who moved to California in 2016 and earned her PhD in ecohydrology from UC Berkeley.
Her research explored the complex relationships between wildfires, hydrology, vegetation, and climate change. After graduating in 2020, Katya developed wildfire and traffic simulation tools for first responders, bridging academic research with real-world applications. She then worked at ICEYE, using satellite technology to model flooding disasters. Now at Stand, Katya is excited to apply her expertise in physics-based modeling to advance wildfire risk assessment.
